Over the past three seasons, the entire regular season and the first three rounds of the playoffs only seemed to be a long setup for an NBA Finals showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two teams have met in each of the last three Finals, and the smart money is on that same scenario happening again this coming June. Apparently, Klay Thompson is not yet tired of seeing LeBron James and company’s faces in the NBA’s grand stage.

Thompson was telling reporters ahead of the Warriors' Monday game against the Cavs at Quicken Loans Arena that it’s the same narrative he is expecting to happen this season, per Mark Medina of The Mercury News.

“I’d be shocked if we didn’t do it again.”

If that happens, though, the Cavs will have a very different team than the one they deployed versus Golden State in last year’s series. Cleveland no longer has Kyrie Irving. Instead, the Cavs now have Isaiah Thomas. Other new faces include Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose – only if the basketball gods allow that story to repeat.

While the Warriors are looking fine in the Western Conference with a league-best 35-9 record, the Cavs are currently in a slump, riding a three-game losing streak heading into Monday’s matchup with the defending champions. The Cavs are third in the Eastern Conference side of things, seven games out of first place. Nevertheless, they remain the favorite to represent the East come June, so yes, a fourth-straight Warriors-Cavs Finals series is a big possibility.
