Klay Thompson definitely is not taking the Cleveland Cavaliers lightly even though he and the Golden State Warriors are the heavy favorites in the 2018 NBA Finals. But when it comes to Tristan Thompson, the Warriors’ shooting guard could care less whether the Cavs’ big man plays or not in Game 2.

Speaking to reporters a day after the Warriors’ 124-114 win on Thursday at home over Cleveland, Klay candidly spoke about his level of concern on Tristan’s status for the next game

“I don’t care if he plays or not. I mean, he’s great on the o-boards (offensive rebounds). He always causes problems with the that. But we’re concerned with how our gameplan is going to be executed and what we have to do to limit them on the offensive glass. So I’m not too concerned if Thompson’s available.”

Tristan Thompson was called for a foul late in Game 1 after challenging Golden State guard Shaun Livingston’s jumper. He caused some more commotion when he shoved the ball into the face of Warriors forward Draymond Green. Thompson would later be thrown out of the game after having played 20 minutes and chipping in just two points and five boards.

While it does not matter to Klay and the Warriors, a possible suspension to Tristan Thompson would feel like a punch in the gut for Cleveland, which needs all hands on deck if they are to avoid falling down a 2-0 hole in the series.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals is on Sunday at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
