Klay Thompson is expecting to play in Sunday's Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers after sustaining a first-quarter scare when a slipping J.R. Smith came crashing down into his leg.

Thompson was taken out of the game immediately after being fouled and taken to the locker room for further examination. The injury had happened in the same leg that had bothered him during a Game 3 collision in the Western Conference Finals.

“I’ve got a sore ligament,” said Thompson, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I’m happy it’s just a muscle that got strained a little bit. No damage. The X-rays were negative so I’m happy about that.”

Thompson would rejoin the game at the start of the second quarter, after exiting at the 6:17 mark of the first period.

By the looks of it, the elite sharpshooter seemed to move just fine, playing 34 of the last 36 minutes of regulation and a total of 45 for the game, finishing with 24 points and making five of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc.

The Warriors will need his contributions moving forward, as his return played a huge part in the three-headed monster attack from him and teammates Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Having confirmed his availability for Sunday's game, all that is left is for the Warriors to address Andre Iguodala's impending return, likely chomping at the bit to get a crack at slowing down LeBron James after a 51-point explosion in Game 1.
