Two-time NBA champ Mychal Thompson has provided a timely update on the status of his son, Klay Thompson, regarding his road to recovery for the Golden State Warriors.

According to his dad, the Warriors star has grown frustrated in recent weeks. The fact that Thompson has been unable to practice with his teammates appears to be taking a toll on him.

“He’s frustrated he can’t work out with his teammates,” Mychal said, via Mark Medina of USA Today. “He just works out on his own like everybody else. He can’t work out with other guys in groups. You have to find a place to shoot on your own and do your own exercises. These guys know what to do. You run your sprints alone and can find an empty gym. Get a key to an empty gym and go shoot. All of these guys have connections to a gym.”

Mychal is making a lot of sense here. His son is one of the best catch-and-shoot players in the game today, so it should prove difficult to make progress in practice if there's no one passing the ball to you.

With regard to Klay's actual health, though, Mychal was unsure about whether his son was ready to play for the Warriors if the season started tomorrow.

“I don’t know. He’s walking around fine,” said Mychal. “Who knows if he’s cleared to play. He has to get that clearance from his doctors and the Warriors. They haven’t talked about that yet.”

Prior to the season suspension, the Warriors cleared Thompson for some light shooting drills. Given how we're now nearing two months since that time, it does appear that Thompson is nearing his much-awaited return.
