A photo from famous YouTuber Dawson Gurley, known best as the Klay Thompson impersonator, surfaced through Gurley's Twitter account — showing him defending Golden State Warriors center Willie Cauley-Stein during their high school days.

Dawson is 26 and so is Cauley-Stein, meaning this claim is as authentic as the vintage photo shows — a less-tattooed WCS and a beardless Big Daws.

Both men hail from Kansas, as Cauley-Stein can be seen donning the blue for his Spearville Ravens while Gurley suited up in the home whites for the Olathe East Hawks.

Gurley's uncle Greg played for Kansas during the 90s, so his family has been no stranger to the sport of basketball.

The photo was an instant reaction to a feature by Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle, detailing Cauley-Stein's transition from Sacramento to the Bay Area, along with his roots in Spearville and the stepping stones of his basketball career.

Gurley has been active in making pranks and vlogs for YouTube since 2012, but his popularity hit a peak in 2015 when he went out to prove just how many people say he looks like Thompson, the Warriors' All-Star shooting guard.

Gurley donned the Warriors uniform in full and disguised himself as Thompson in “Klay Thompson Plays Basketball with Strangers” — a video that amassed more than 15 million views on the site.

The Kansas native, who now resides in Tempe, AZ, has made consequent appearances to Warriors games since, making another appearance for Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals and even getting into the Warriors' ring ceremony the very next season.

Despite being known for pranks and awesome videos, Gurley was a serious basketball player in his high school days, and this photo with Cauley-Stein is living proof that the Klay Thompson impersonator indeed had some game.
