Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors will have to play the rest of the 2019 playoffs without DeMarcus Cousins, who suffered a torn left quad on Monday in Game 2 of the Dubs' first round matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Monday was a nightmare evening for the Warriors. They lost Cousins to a devastating injury and blew a 31-point lead at home to the Clippers. The series is now tied at 1-1 as it shifts to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4.

Thompson and the rest of his teammates feel for Cousins, who tore his Achilles tendon last season with the New Orleans Pelicans. This will now be the second consecutive summer Cousins will have to sit and watch his team play in the postseason while rehabbing an injury.

Thompson, though, believes that Cousins will “bounce back” from this setback and come back stronger next season.

“We’ll rally behind him, tell him it’s far from the end of the world, tell him he has so much great basketball ahead of him,” Thompson said, via Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle. “He believes that. It sucks. Injury is a part of the game, terrible part of the game. He’ll bounce back. I know he will.”

Cousins played in 30 games for the Warriors in the regular season. He averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest while shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 27.4 percent from beyond the arc and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors were an impressive 23-7 with Cousins in the lineup. Golden State is going to miss his post presence moving forward.

However, expect Thompson and the Dubs to be motivated to win the title for Cousins now.
