During an interview with KNBR's Tolbert, Kreuger & Brooks on Friday, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he drove from San Diego to watch Klay Thompson work out in Orange County on Thursday.

According to Kerr, Thompson “looked great,” via Marcus White of NBC Sports Bay Area. He continued,

“It was great to see him,” the Warriors coach said. “He looked great. He was moving well and, as you would expect, just knocking down [shots]. So, he looked good. He's not playing ‘live' yet, he hasn't done any contact stuff, but that's kind of the final step and there's obviously plenty of time for that. He's right on schedule, and everything's going well.”

Thompson has been cleared to train without restrictions on his healed left knee, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. The three-time NBA champion tore his left ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

Thompson was scheduled to miss the entire 2019-20 season after the Warriors signed the sharpshooter to a five-year max contract in the summer of 2019. It never made sense to jeopardize Thompson's long-term health for one season.

In 2018-19, Thompson averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Warriors. The five-time All-Star put up 20.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in the 2019 playoffs before tragically tearing his ACL in the final game ever played at the Warriors' old home, Oracle Arena.

Warriors fans can’t wait to see Thompson back in the lineup next season. Golden State should be playoff contenders again with Klay, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins leading the charge.
