According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson will have to think for a couple of days before deciding to compete in the 3-point contest at the All-Star Weekend.

Thompson has participated in the last three three-point contests, and won the 2016 Edition, edging out fellow Splash Brother Stephen Curry in the Finals.

It may be possible that Thompson is waiting to see whether he will be among the 14 reserves on Sunday's All-Star showdown before deciding to compete in the three-point contest on Saturday night.

So far, five confirmed players are reportedly participating in this season's annual long-ball shoot-out in Charlotte. The Curry Brothers confirmed that they will be competing against each other in their hometown, where their father Dell Curry spent the majority of his playing career.

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard will also look to capture his first three-point contest crown, while Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield will join for the first time. Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki will participate in his sixth three-point contest. This should be a treat for the fans to watch the future Hall of Famer in what looks like his farewell tour in the NBA.

There are usually eight participants in this particular competition, thus it remains to be seen if Thompson will be among those to join these five names that have been confirmed.

Klay has had a down year shooting the ball for his standards. He is currently shooting just 38 percent from deep this season, which is way below his career average of 41.8 percent. Still, the drop-off has not tarnished his reputation as one of the best shooters in the league. Let's not forget that Thompson, earlier this season, broke the NBA record for most three-pointers in an NBA game with 14.
