In the absence of Klay Thompson, who is still recovering from a torn Achilles, Jordan Poole has stepped up for the Golden State Warriors and has transformed into the third or even second option on offense. With the way he is playing and the huge role he has with the Dubs, no one would think he was the 28th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Thompson, for his part, acknowledged that as well. Speaking to reporters after Tuesday's practice, the other half of the Splash Bros. heaped praise on Poole and the impact he has on the Dubs' 15-2 start to the season.

“He's looking like he shoulda been a lotto pick,” Thompson said of Poole, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Jordan Poole is actually coming off a 33-point explosion during Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors. More amazingly, he did so by connecting eight of his 11 attempts from beyond the arc.

The 22-year-old has no doubt established himself as the perfect backcourt partner alongside Stephen Curry while Klay Thompson remains out. While Poole did have some rough stretches in recent weeks, it's just really a matter of being consistent and getting more repetitions with his increased role.

Remember Poole had only started in 22 games in his first two years in the NBA with the Warriors. Now in his third year, he has already made 17 starts.

Even when Thompson returns, Steve Kerr might be hard-pressed not to give Poole a chance to start again. He has proven himself as a capable scorer, and as Thompson hinted, he has clearly surpassed some of his peers who were drafted higher than him.
