Chadwick Boseman, who recently rose to prominence for playing the role of King T'Challa in Marvel's box-office hit ā€œBlack Panther,ā€ passed away on Friday. Players from across the league have come out to send their condolences for the fallen actor, including Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson.

Thompson took to Twitter to share his grief on Boseman's shocking death:

In an official statement, Boseman's camp confirmed that the American actor had been battling with colon cancer. He was diagnosed with Stage III cancer four years ago, and he recently entered Stage IV. Boseman died in his home together with his wife and family at the age of 43.

We can't help but agree with the Warriors sharpshooter and his assessment of how this year has been absolutely brutal. Aside from Boseman, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi were a couple of other casualties in 2020, with the father-and-daughter duo passing away in a helicopter accident back in January. The onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic followed soon after, which has had a severe impact across the globe.

In late-May, the death of George Floyd sparked national protests against police brutality and systemic racism. The cases of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and most recently, Jacob Blake, also came to light and have collectively caused an uproar throughout the nation.

Clearly, 2020 has not been our year ā€” and there's still four months to go before we bid goodbye to this seemingly cursed year.

For his part, Klay Thompson and the Warriors have had a terrible 2019-20 campaign themselves.

There is a lot to look forward to in the new season, though, with a healthy Warriors side looking to challenge for the title again next term.
