After their blowout victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers uttered a strong message on the police shooting of Jacob Blake. His comments had everyone in awe, including Golden State Warriors star guard Klay Thompson.

On Twitter, Thompson gave Rivers a shoutout for his “powerful” comments. The Warriors sharpshooter also sent out prayers to Blake's family and the community in Kenosha, Wisconsin where the incident occurred.

Blake is the latest victim of police brutality amid a series of protests against racial injustice. Reports reveal that Blake, 29 years old, was shot several times in the back by a police officer. The shots were not fatal, but it is said that a miracle has to happen for Blake to be able to walk again. The shooting has sparked protests across Kenosha, some of which have stormed the police department.

The NBA has been one of the most outspoken leagues against racial injustice. During the hiatus, players like Klay Thompson and his Warriors teammates took to the streets to protest the existing racism and social injustices in the nation after the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minnesota police last May.

Moreover, in the bubble, the league has also allowed its players to don jerseys with pre-approved social justice statements. Also, written on the Orlando courts is “Black Lives Matter.”

Apart from this, players and coaches have opted to put away basketball talk during interviews. Instead, they continue to share their thoughts on the racial issues that have been hounding the US.

While the Warriors are not in the NBA bubble, it is clear that they remain active in the fight against police brutality.
