It looks like the Golden State Warriors will receive an early Christmas present in the form of the returning Klay Thompson. The Dubs shooting guard has been on the shelf for the past two seasons due to injuries and at this point, it appears that he's finally set to return to action.

According to ESPN's NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski, Thompson could be cleared to return as early as December 20 when the Warriors take on the Sacramento Kings:

“I'm told if he continues on his current course right now in rehab, that a target date for his return will be set probably within the next couple weeks,” Woj said, via Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report. “And It could be—there's optimism it could be as soon as December 20, December 23. The Warriors have home games before Christmas, and so the plan for Klay Thompson is to continue to ramp up.

“The Warriors'll go on a road trip in mid-December, and at that point, if Klay continues on this track, he'd go down and play with the Warriors' G League team. And the idea is, and the hope is, they'll have him back perhaps prior to Christmas.”

This is absolutely great news for the Warriors, and quite frankly, for every basketball fan out there who has been longing for Thompson's return to the court.

Even if Klay is unable to suit up for December 20th or even the 23rd, what is clear here is that he's extremely close to returning. We've been teased with several cryptic updates on his status over the last few weeks, but with Woj himself now providing a firm timetable, it is abundantly clear that the Warriors star is going to be playing again very soon.
