Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr can't wait for Klay Thompson's return in the 2020-21 season, and he expects it to be an emotional moment not only for Klay but also for the whole franchise and its fan base.

During his interview on 95.7 The Game, Kerr admitted he has been thinking about the ovation Thompson is going to get when he returns to action next season for the Warriors. After all, if any one deserves a grand return full of cheers, applause and tribute, it's the Dubs sharpshooter who has been really important for the franchise.

“I literally think about the first game back at Chase for Klay Thompson, and the ovation that guy is gonna get,” Steve Kerr said, via East Bay Times. “It’s gonna be so emotional, for everybody. I can’t wait for that night because nobody deserves that more than Klay.”

Klay Thompson has missed the past two seasons due to various injuries, so the anticipation to his NBA comeback is really high–especially in Golden State, as the city has not seen the playoffs in his absence. The veteran shooting guard suffered a torn ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals that cost him the whole 2019-20 season, and as he was set to return in 2020-21, he sustained an Achilles injury in the offseason that ruled him out once again.

“Everyone loves Klay. He’s such a breath of fresh air. He’s so much fun to be around,” Kerr added. “And then the fact that when we walk into camp for the first time, it’s all together with Klay being on the court with the rest of the guys in training camp. That means everybody’s spirits will be higher, including mine.”

After two years on the sidelines, Thompson is set to make his return in 2021-22, though it is still unknown whether he'll be ready for the start of the campaign. One this is certain, however: once he steps on the court, there will be a massive celebration in Golden State.
