Despite losing arguably their best player in Kevin Durant to a freak calf strain, the Golden State Warriors managed to eke out a close win in Game 5 and put the Houston Rockets on the brink of elimination. Leading 3-2 heading into Game 6, the Dubs could afford to lose a game and close it out at Oracle in front of their raucous home crowd. But if you ask Klay Thompson, a deciding Game 7 wasn't in their plans at all, and for obvious reasons.

Even if the Warriors had Durant available, it still wouldn't be a wise decision to prolong their series because anything could happen in The Association. The team themselves were on the bad end of history as they surrendered a 3-1 lead before, so there's definitely a precedent. Fighting hard and laying it all out to close the books on a tough matchup as the Rockets is only logical, and should they lose, only then do the Warriors pick themselves up and consider battling in a Game 7.

Now that the Rockets are history for the remainder of the playoffs, the team could now breathe a collective sigh of relief and hope that Durant would then be fully healed and available as they take on either the feisty Portland Trail Blazers led by the backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum or the deep upstarts that is the Denver Nuggets with European superstar Nikola Jokic at the helm.

Should be a tough one for the defending champions either way.
