When Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson celebrates a win, he doesn't just do it any old way.
He drives home, opens the door to his place and proceeds to tell the story of the game to the most important creature in his life: his dog, Rocco.
That's right. Thompson, the soft-spoken, sharp-shooting basketball assassin, celebrates Warriors victories with his four-legged best friend, per Melissa Rohlin of the Bay Area News Group.
“I celebrate with Rocco every night,” Thompson said after the Warriors’ 112-97 win over Dallas. “It’s a blessing to have him in my life.”
This whole thing is adorable. For those that don't know, Thompson can be seen everywhere on the internet with his dog, and many NBA podcasters have stories of the same ilk.
What makes this great is that Thompson is most likely joking about the extent to which he celebrates with Rocco. Does he talk about plays in detail with the dog? Does he just say quickly whether the team won or lost? Is he watching film while telling Rocco how the Warriors effectively defended the Spain pick and roll?
Most of those questions are unanswerable, but the fact that an NBA players has that kind of special relationship with his pet is something that is always fun to explore.
