Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee.

Thompson's agent, Greg Lawrence, confirmed the development to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Klay suffered the injury with about two minutes remaining in the third quarter of Game 6 against the Toronto Raptors.

Thompson was attempting for a dunk in the fastbreak late in the third quarter, but Raptors swingman Danny Green tried to block him and collided with Klay mid-air. The 29-year-old All-Star fell awkwardly onto the floor and writhed in pain while holding his left knee.

He was eventually ruled out of the game and had to leave Oracle Arena in crutches. He finished with 30 points, five rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes of play in Game 6.

In his absence, the Warriors lacked the firepower to stay ahead against the Raptors. The Dubs lost 114-110 and handed the championship to Toronto.

A torn ACL often requires surgery. Depending on the severity, Thompson might also need six to 12 months for rehabilitation.

This comes as a bad news for the Warriors who were already nursing an Achilles injury to Kevin Durant. KD is expected to be sidelined for the whole 2019-20 season due to the injury.

Thompson is a free agent this summer. While it remains to be seen how his injury will impact his market value — he is poised to receive a max contract — the general consensus is that the Warriors are keen on keeping him.
