Despite his strong ties to the team that drafted him, Golden State Warriors marksman Klay Thompson admitted he'll hone in on good weather when evaluating his decision process in the summer of 2019.

Having grown fond of golf and walks on the beach with his dog, an English Bulldog named Rocco — the 6-foot-7 sharpshooter admitted he'd find it hard to leave the Bay Area.

“I definitely want to play somewhere warm,” Thompson said during a podcast interview with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski via Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News.

“I’ve been playing a lot of golf — so whatever fits well. But it’s special to be with one franchise your whole career. Only so many guys have done it in professional sports. And it’d be weird leaving the Bay Area. I believe I’m going to be there for a very long time. I can say that truthfully. But a lot can happen the next two years. It’s going to be hard to leave California when it’s sunny like this.”

In this day and age, it's a rarity to see a player play his whole career with one team, with Dirk Nowitzki and Nick Collison as the only ones with 10-plus years of service who have done so with one franchise.

Yet the Warriors will have some tough decisions to make, with three other All-Stars to pay.

A hard cap structure could prove the biggest enemy of keeping this star-studded core together, forcing the players to make some financial concessions in hopes to remain with the team.

Only time will tell if golf and some good sun are worth leaving money on the table for Thompson.
