Injured Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson is slowly but surely making progress in his long road to recovery. Warriors coach Steve Kerr recently gave an encouraging update about Thompson's status that should definitely excite fans.

Per The Athletic's Anthony Slater, according to Kerr, Thompson is now be cleared to run in his next stage of rehabilitation from his Achilles surgery.

That's definitely terrific news for Warriors fans. Running, of course, is a huge part of the 31-year-old sharpshooter's game, as he is one of the best when it comes to moving without the ball. The Warriors have made a killing in the past with Thompson masterfully using screens to get wide-open looks from downtown.

The three-time NBA champion has already teased that his shooting stroke is still on-point, judging by some clips of him messing around during practices and warm-ups. While it will still be months before Thompson could even resume basketball-related activities, the fact that he'll be permitted to run is a promising sign.

Kerr, however, likely still wants Thompson to err on the side of caution and not overdo his recovery. After all, this is his second major injury in a span of two years, after just recovering from an ACL tear he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. The Warriors are terribly missing Thompson's services, especially with his fellow Splash Brother, Stephen Curry, needing help to keep the team afloat.

Regardless if the Warriors make it to the NBA Playoffs this year or not, Klay Thompson is still not expected to be back until next season. Steve Kerr, however, doesn't mind waiting as long his prized sniper won't suffer any more setbacks.
