While the lights at the 2018 ESPYs shone bright, the fireworks would only get started at Delilah nightclub, where LeBron James hosted an afterparty for some of his close friends.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was soon sucker punched by Tristan Thompson, but the situation was stopped by two NBA Finals rivals in James and Kevin Durant, who stopped the incident from escalating, according to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.

Green was reportedly looking to apologize for ridiculing Thompson with his post-Game-1 comments and another he made during the team's championship parade, but the Cleveland Cavaliers center was having none of it, attacking Green before formally declaring a fight would take place.

A source told Marcus Thompson that it was a “sucker punch” while another described it as a “shove,” while other sources say it was a “legit punch” or even a quick one-two — making the scenario hard to visualize.

The incident was kept from escalating either way, and the post ESPYs celebration continued amicably after Durant and James managed to calm both players down and kept them from settling their differences in front of other attendees.

Green had previously welcomed Thompson if he wanted to settle difference in the streets, but he had no idea it would come after a red carpet affair, in front of many others.
