Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green caught people's attention yesterday, commenting on his new teammate Marquese Chriss and the young big man's early career. The three-time NBA champion Green told reporters on Thursday that part of the 22-year-old Chriss' early struggles so far were related to the Phoenix Suns organization.

Now Chriss is responding to Green's comments, telling reporters he supports his teammate for “having my back.”

Per ESPN's Nick Friedell on Twitter:

“Obviously I don't want to get into it with the old teams I've been with. I'm appreciative for them giving me an opportunity …but Draymond's allowed to say those things. I appreciate him for having my back and I wholeheartedly believe what he said”

Chriss, a 6-foot-10 power forward, was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the eighth overall pick in the 2016 draft, getting dealt on draft night to the Suns. Chriss only spent the first two seasons of his professional career in Phoenix, however, finding trouble meshing on the floor. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 154 total appearances with the Suns.

The Washington product Chriss was later traded in the offseason last year, heading to the Houston Rockets for a short stint before finding himself with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He signed as a free agent with the Warriors in September.

Chriss will likely make the roster now after Golden State waived small forward Alfonzo McKinnie on Friday, too. Chriss joins a revamped Warriors frontcourt following the transitive summer featuring much turnover following the Bay Area franchise's 2019 NBA Finals defeat to the Toronto Raptors and departure of two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant.
