Earlier this week, Golden State Warriors head coach made a bold statement by saying that Kevin Durant is a more gifted player than Michael Jordan. No one necessarily argued, but it was definitely a surprising comment. Now, former NBA journeyman Matt Barnes has doubled down on Kerr’s statement, per TMZ.

“He didn’t say he was a better player. He just said more gifted… if you think about it, Kevin Durant is 7-foot and he can basically do everything you want your point guard to do.”

Barnes does have a point. Being gifted is not the same as being a better player. But keep in mind, Kerr coached Kevin Durant for a few years and also played with MJ during their title-winning days with the Bulls. He truly saw the best of Jordan.

In case you missed it, here is the full quote from the Warriors coach:

KD did show just how special he is during the Nets’ postseason run. He dropped 48 in Game 7 against the Bucks last week and basically willed his team to success with Harden and Irving hurt. Durant went on to average 34.3 points and 9.3 boards in the playoffs.

Jordan meanwhile, is still considered by many as the GOAT. But, Kevin Durant could very well be more gifted because of the versatile skill set he has for such a big player. The debate will go on, but Matt Barnes and Steve Kerr have spoken. Kevin Durant deserves to be in that conversation.
