Ahead of the Dallas Mavericks' meeting with the Golden State Warriors, Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle had some high praise for All-Star forward Kevin Durant.

Speaking to local reporters after the Mavs' shootaround, Rick Carlisle said Kevin Durant is the greatest scorer he has ever seen.

Kevin Durant is 6-foot-9 and can get his shot over any defender, so Rick Carlisle isn't entirely wrong with his assessment. The Warriors star is the type of player where you just have to hope he misses if you're guarding him.

Furthermore, the nine-time All-Star has guard-like skills in terms of the way he can handle the basketball and pass. We really haven't seen a player like Kevin Durant before in NBA history.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has scored the most points in league history, but many believe Durant can possibly surpass Abdul-Jabbar's record if he stays healthy and plays long enough. The 30-year-old Washington native is currently ranked No. 35 on the NBA's all-time scoring list. He has career averages of 27.1 points per game.

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant were obviously elite scorers as well, but the thing that separates Durant is his size and length. This is a guy with a 7-foot wingspan and who also has unlimited range. Opponents have to guard Durant as soon as he crosses half court. He truly is one of the most special talents the game of basketball has ever witnessed.
