NBA legend Mitch Richmond was given the task of handing the trophy to the Western Conference Champions, the Golden State Warriors. Rather than making it a generic awards ceremony, Richmond opted to add a little twist at the expense of Kevin Durant.

As seen in the video below, Richmond gave Durant (and possibly the rest of the Warriors) a bit of a ribbing during the awarding ceremony:

Was he alluding to the fact that Durant single-handedly carried the Warriors over the Houston Rockets? Perhaps, but not quite.

Though he was consistent throughout the series, he also got the help of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in Game 7.

Curry led the Warriors' third-quarter surge by draining three after three, along with several buckets inside the paint. He finished with nearly a triple-double: 27 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. He was also 7-of-15 from downtown.

Thompson, for his part, survived foul trouble in the first quarter. He chipped in 19 points, as well as three 3-pointers — most of which came at a time when the Warriors were desperate for some points.

And as observed towards the end of the video, Thompson wanted to take part in the fun. He videoboard the awarding ceremony. Though in reality, he should actually be on stage with his teammates.

Durant finished with 34 points, five rebounds, and five assists. As usual, his offensive talent proved no match even for the Rockets' best defenders.

Game 1 of NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be on May 31, Thursday, 9 p.m. ET. Will the Warriors repeat as champions and claim their third title in four years? Or will LeBron James and the Cavaliers unleash another upset?
