The Golden State Warriors are looking to new rookie Moses Moody to make an impact for them on defense. The Arkansas alum has been projected before the draft to be a 3-and-D guy in the NBA, due to his length and knack for being on the right place at the right time.

When asked about that, the Warriors rookie reveals his initial motivation to play defense, specifically, take a charge: money. Per Nick Friedell:

“Moses Moody said he got comfortable taking charges because he had an AAU coach in 6th grade that would give him a $1 for every charge he took. Said he made $20 that season. “I’m a businessman.””

That's absolutely hilarious. You've heard about players talking about giving their all on the court or just being intensely into the game as reasons to take a charge. But to hear Moody, a rookie, be so candid and frank about his motivations on why he loved taking charges is hilarious. Go get that bag for the Warriors, Moody!

The Warriors hope that Moody's business venture in sixth grade will help him adapt to the NBA game. With Klay Thompson returning from a near-two year absence, Stephen Curry and co. are raring to grab another title. Along with Moody, the Warriors brought on Jonathan Kuminga from the draft, as well as swingman Otto Porter Jr and Andre Igoudala in free agency. These additions are what the Warriors hope will get them over the hump.

Moody also figures to play a prominent role in the Warriors squad. Andrew Wiggins (who has been cleared to play in all games after getting vaccinated) will be the team's primary defender, but they will need more bodies to throw at opposing wings. Moody can hopefully step in for the Warriors if one of their 3-and-D guys is having an off-game, as he provides the same skillset as the others.
