Though Nike had a chance to match any offer made, Golden State Warriors All-Star DeMarcus Cousins is now the face of Puma, according to a report from ESPN's Nick DePaula.

In his report, DePaula notes that Nike declined to exercise their option to match Puma's offer. As a result, Cousins' multi-year shoe deal is now official.

Cousins, now 28 years of age, agreed to join the Warriors on a one-year deal in the offseason. Needless to say, Dubs fans are excited about his arrival in the Bay Area.

“This is my ace of spades,” Cousins told ESPN after signing with the Warriors. “This is my chess move.”

Golden State used its taxpayer midlevel exception to reach a deal with Cousins, who is still recovering from a torn Achilles.

In his 48 games played with the Pelicans last season, Cousins racked up averages of 25.2 points on 47.0 percent shooting from the field (35.4 percent from beyond the arc), 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.6 steals in 36.2 minutes per outing.

As of right now, there is no set timetable for Cousins' return to the court. The Warriors are likely being cautious with his rehabilitation process. Damian Jones, Jordan Bell, and Kevon Looney will likely see an up-tick in minutes until Cousins is well enough to play again.

The Warriors will be back in action on Friday night, when they'll travel to Utah for a match-up against the Jazz. Tip-off inside Vivint Smart Home Arena is set for 10:30 p.m. EST with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
