Restricted free agent Patrick McCaw has all the time in the world to decide whether he wants to go back to the Golden State Warriors or move on from the team.

McCaw has a qualifying offer worth $1.7 million put on his table by the Warriors in June, but the shooting guard has yet to touch it. In any case, the Warriors do seem to be fine with McCaw taking his sweet time to arrive at a final decision.

According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, Golden State has no intent on withdrawing the offer, thus giving McCaw the luxury of having to explore his options while having a fallback contract in case he can’t find a bigger deal elsewhere.

What’s unclear, however, is whether Golden State will match any offer McCaw will get to keep him in the Bay Area for at least another season.

As of this writing, the Warriors have 13 players with guaranteed contracts for the 2018-19 NBA season, so there’s no need for McCaw to worry about losing a spot on the team.

Last season, McCaw played 57 games (10 starts) for the Warriors and averaged just 4.0 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.9 minutes per game. McCaw could be looking for a place where he can have a bigger role than just being a third-stringer.

After sustaining a bruise during a nasty fall last March, Patrick McCaw missed the rest of the regular season and only returned to action in the Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets.
