Golden State Warriors power forward/center Omari Spellman rejected an invite to his new teammate Draymond Green's concert-going adventure to see Janet Jackson.

The 22-year-old Spellman, a 6-foot-9 big man out of Villanova who was selected with the last pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks and traded to Golden State in the offseason, told reporters he didn't know Jackson's music, declining the invite.

Per ESPN's Nick Friedell on Twitter:

“I know Janet was the truth in her time, but I don’t know none of her music.”

Green, 29-year-old veteran and heart and soul of the Warriors, signed a four-year contract extension with the franchise worth nearly $100 million after his current deal expires at the conclusion of this upcoming 2019-20 season. A three-time champion and former Defensive Player of the Year, the loud and brash forward is apparently a fan of five-time Grammy Award winning pop and R&B recording artist Jackson.

Spellman doesn't appear to know Jackson's music, however. The big man's arrival in the Bay Area means he has reunited with former Villanova teammate Eric Paschall, Golden State's second-round selection from this past June's draft class.

Spellman averaged 5.9 points and 4.2 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game for the Hawks during his rookie season, appearing in 46 games and competing in three more G League contests. Spellman and the Wildcats won the 2018 NCAA men's Division I tournament, but he has yet to compete for a professional squad with playoff aspirations and a real track record for postseason success.
