Otto Porter signing for the Golden State Warriors for a veteran's minimum could turn out to be one of the best transactions of the offseason. There's no denying that the 28-year-old has fallen from grace over the past couple of years, but it's also true that he could prove to be a key piece for the Dubs this coming season.

Porter recently opened up about his mindset with his new team, and his statements should get Stephen Curry and the rest of the Warriors hyped for the upcoming campaign:

“Absolutely,” Porter responded when asked if he saw this opportunity to remind the league of his ability, via Monte Poole of NBC Sports. “And not even what I can do, but what I can do for this team.”

Injuries have been the biggest hurdle for Porter over the past few seasons, but at this point, the 6-foot-8 forward is adamant that he's getting back to top form:

“I’m feeling really good,” Porter said. “The body is in good condition. I’m able to actually get in the gym and put in work; it’s been tough to do that the last couple years because of COVID. But this year, as soon as the season was over with, actually before the season was over with, I was getting my body in tip-top shape.”

Porter is also well aware of what the Warriors expect from him this coming season, and he's more than willing to play the role he's being asked to:

“Space the floor, knock down my corner 3s, knock down the 3-ball, move off the ball as well,” he said. “And then defend. Bring that presence to the team. Use my length and athleticism, being versatile on the wing position.”

Porter also expressed how he's set his ego aside now that he's joined a star-studded squad in the Warriors:

“I’m a nine-year vet. I’ve been a starter. I’ve come off the bench. It doesn’t matter to me at this point,” he said. “I just want to play wherever coach plays me. I’m at the stage of my career where starting doesn’t matter.”

Porter is saying all the right things here. Let's just hope this translates to excellent play on the basketball court for the former third overall pick.
