Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam has been one of the more pleasant surprised of the 2018-19 NBA season. It seems he has even started to draw comparisons to Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

Siakam has emerged as one of the most promising, young players in the league.

He admitted during an appearance on the Woj Podcast that people have likened his style of play to Green:

Woj asked Pascal Siakam about players he is compared to.

Siakam did not offer this as his own personal impression, but he said the name other people attach to him is “Draymond Green.” Siakam explained that he is still evolving and learning, and that he doesn't regard himself as a finished or fully evolved basketball player on his 25th birthday, when this broadcast was recorded with Woj.

It is easy to see where the similarities between the two players come from. Like Green, Siakam is considered an undersized power forward but their unique skill set helps make up for it. He emerged as a largely underrated prospect out of New Mexico State. Despite the quiet start to his career, he has finally started to make a name for himself on this high-powered Raptors team.

Siakam is in the midst of a career year this season for Toronto. He is currently averaging 17.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. While he may not be an elite defender like Green is, his overall athleticism and offensive skill set could give him the edge of these two teams were to potentially meet in the playoffs.

There is no question that the Warriors are the heavy favorites to defend their championship crown this season. Meanwhile, Toronto is hoping their new star power will be enough to take the East.

This could potentially set up an intriguing matchup between Green and Siakam in this year's NBA Finals.
