The Golden State Warriors have a critical offseason this year as they look to revitalize their championship hopes next season. However, NBA icon Paul Pierce is optimistic that the team will be able to re-establish themselves as contenders.

Dubbing Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as still “the best backcourt in all of basketball,”, Pierce claimed that the Warriors can reach the mountaintop again within the next three years.

“I really, truly believe they can win a title within the next three years,” Pierce said of the Warriors on The Jump, via Drew Shiller of NBC Sports. “Even though we didn't see (Steph) Curry (or) Klay (Thompson) this year. But you gotta admit — this is probably the best backcourt in all of basketball still.

“If they make the right moves … they're gonna get a nice draft pick that they can probably parlay into a good player, (or maybe) a very good player. All the infrastructure is in place for them to really build a championship team within the next three years.”

Paul Pierce is known for spewing incredibly hot takes, some of which do not sit well with a lot of people. However, The Truth is probably on point with this one.

The Warriors essentially took a year off this year with the injuries to Curry and Thompson. They finished the 2019-20 season with the worst record in the league. With that, however, Golden State will get the chance to make a high lottery pick in the upcoming draft.

The Warriors are still mulling their options whether they would keep the pick or perhaps trade it to get another star to add to their core of Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green and the recently acquired Andrew Wiggins. Of course, this may all depend on where the pick lands and if the top names in the draft enamor them enough.

In addition to their pick, Golden State can also utilize the $17.2 million trade exception from the Andre Iguodala deal to add another significant piece to their core.

With all the directions that franchise can head to, this will definitely be an interesting summer for Warriors Nation.
