The NBA MVP race looks a little different this season. It's not that there are that many new faces, but the race itself has so many players that could potentially take home the hardware this season. Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry spoke about the MVP race and his place in it, compared to a lot of younger stars, as detailed by The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Curry is in his 13th NBA season, and former teammate Kevin Durant is in his 15th season, yet they are right there in the discussion as the league's most valuable player.

“You’re trying to put in perspective all that we’ve done — I’m in my 13th year, KD is in his 15th year — and we’re still leading the charge and our teams are still fighting for championships and have realistic chances to get it done.”

The depth of superstar talent in the NBA is amazing. Giannis Antetokounmpo is just finally entering his prime. Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic is only 26 years old. Curry recognizes that these young guns have dominated the league over the last few years, but he is not ready to relent just yet.

“I understand how amazing it is from a historical basketball perspective but also knowing (Durant) and knowing the guys that are coming behind us that are coming into their primes. We’re trying to hold on for as long as we can, and we want to keep up and stay away from slowing down.”

Despite their advanced age, Curry and Durant are having spectacular seasons. Durant has led the Nets to within a half game for the top spot in the east. Meanwhile, Curry and the Warriors are 2nd in the west.
