Star big man DeMarcus Cousins could be just a rental for the Golden State Warriors but that does not stop him from mentoring his teammates. Warriors point guard Quinn Cook says that Cousins preaches aggressiveness to him non-stop.

Mark Medina of The Mercury News tweeted out Cook's comments on how Cousins is helping their team's cause despite being sidelined by an injury.

Cook did just that during last night's home win against the Brooklyn Nets. Playing without the services of All-Stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, the depleted Warriors held down the fort thanks to Cook's impressive game.

The 25-year old Duke product scored a season-high 27 points on 11-16 shooting. He also dished off 5 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds. His 19 first-half points set the tone for the Warriors coming into the break as the defending champs return to winning ways after losing their last game to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Warriors superstar Kevin Durant, who led the team in points and assists with 28 and 11, was not surprised seeing Cook's hard work pay off.

Via Monte Poole of NBC Sports:

“Quinn just thinks he’s supposed to always be ready, no matter what,” Durant said. “He doesn’t feel entitled or feel like he has to play. So when he’s not playing — obviously, he wants to be out there — he’s still working on his game. He’s still looking and staying engaged in the game and thinking the game.

“So when his number is called, he’s able to go out there and produce. That’s because of the work he puts in every day.”

With playmakers Curry, Green and Shaun Livingston currently out with injuries, the Warriors will look for Cook to step up again when they go on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers for their next game.
