Kevin Durant's manager, Rich Kleiman, was not fond of Walt Frazier's comments during an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio this week, in which the New York Knicks legend and Hall of Famer claimed there would be an asterisk next to the two-time Finals MVP due to his move to the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

Kleiman has deep connections in New York as a native of the state, which made the potential of Durant hopping over to the East Coast a very real possibility next offseason.

Kleiman shared his interest in taking over the Knicks' front office after years of subpar basketball. He put it bluntly in an interview with Bill Simmons of The Ringer in his podcast.

ā€œI want to run the Knicks,ā€ Kleiman told Simmons. ā€œI really want to run the Knicks. Dead seriousā€¦ I want to run the Knicks.ā€

Durant's take didn't stray far from his manager's belief.

ā€œI think he could run the Knicks better than anybody who has ever run the Knicks.ā€

Durant and Kleiman's partnership is as engraved as it gets, given the latter's stake in the forward's company and his lead in the many financial ventures he has taken over the past two years.

Frazier refused to say Durant is the best active player, despite the present evidence of his dominance during the past two NBA Finals.

ā€œDurant, as great a player he is, I would still hold backĀ because man, he joined a team that really didnā€™t need him. Heā€™s right there with LeBron ā€” probablyĀ wouldā€™ve surpassed LeBron as the best player in the game soon ā€” but for him doing that I still donā€™t give him the full credit that he probably wouldā€™ve deserved if he stayed with OKC and won a title with that team.ā€

He would later do the same when it comes to the all-time debate, which enticed the headline.

ā€œHe'sĀ gonnaĀ be down the list for me because of that. There will be an asterisk byĀ his name.ā€

In all fairness, Frazier has been tepid about his Knicks' own chances, giving star Kristaps Porzingis no shot to return from injury this season and New York only a 50 percent chance to land a star next offseason.
