The Golden State Warriors have assigned Jacob Evans III to the NBA G League Santa Cruz Warriors. Evans III was the 28th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

This may be a shock to some people, as a lot thought he was a steal by the Warriors in the first round.

However, Evans has not cracked the Warriors rotation. As stated in the press release by the Warriors, he has appeared in only seven games this season and only averaging 0.6 point and 1.0 assists in 6.3 minutes per game.

With Evans III going to the G League, it should give him some confidence and he will be able to prove to general manager Bob Myers and head coach Steve Kerr that he deserves the opportunity in the rotation.

The most minutes in a game this season Evans saw was 16 minutes against the Chicago Bulls.

On the season, Evans is shooting only 22.2 percent from the field and 0 percent from 3-point range.

With Alfonzo McKinnie getting an unexpected amount of minutes in the rotation, there had to be an odd man out. It seems like right now, Evans is the odd man out and will be able to prove himself and to the franchise in the G League with Santa Cruz.

The G League has done wonders for a lot of players in the league and they have rejuvenated a lot of careers for players. Yes, it is only a couple of weeks into the season and he is a rookie, but sometimes rookies just need playing time to prove what they have is good enough.
