The Boston Celtics put the NBA on notice by defeating the Golden State Warriors 92-88 on Thursday night to extend their winning streak to 14. Even more surprising, two-time MVP Stephen Curry was seemingly sipping on the Celtics kool-aid after saying it was ‘very likely' the Warriors would be back in the Boston Garden in June.

However, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry, who was clearly disgruntled with the media, says his post-game comments were taken out of proportion:

“You can literally take one line where I say it's very, very likely, read the whole comment, man. I hate when that happens,” Curry said. “I stand up here and talk for 45 seconds about that question and you want to take five words and put the Boston Celtics in the [NBA] Finals. That's the hype beast though.”

Many originally took Curry's comments as a shot at the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, the two-time champion had apparently added that in order for that to happen, Boston would first have to prove themselves against the reigning Eastern Conference champions.

While his comments may have gotten misconstrued, there is plenty of truth to what he is saying. The Celtics have undoubtedly been the best team in the league to start the 2017-18 NBA season but that will be of little importance once these teams inevitably meet down the road.
