Marreese Speights played for the Golden State Warriors for three seasons and was part of their 2015 championship. With that said, he has seen how Stephen Curry and Draymond Green lead the team and what makes them so different.

It is no secret that Green is the vocal leader of the Warriors. He is not afraid to call out his teammates if he sees something wrong, and it has certainly been beneficial for the Dubs. On the other hand, while Curry is not as vocal as Dray, he has his own way of leading the team: by example.

Speights described it perfectly in his latest appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio, calling Curry a “leader with his game.”

“He will talk some, but he's not going to talk like a Draymond or something. He leads by example. Just for me the biggest thing about him being so good and why he's so successful is that he goes hard in practice. He goes hard in individual workouts when somebody guarding him full court,” Speights said of Curry.

” … He basically goes hard after practice. It's crazy. The work ethic he has, it's like a robot. He knows what he's gonna do, and that's why nobody surprised about his success who been in that program. They see how hard he works, they see how he takes care of his body.”

True enough, no one has seen Stephen Curry confront his teammates on the court like Draymond Green does. However, that doesn't mean he is not leading the team or refusing to be a voice in the locker room.

As Speights said it, Curry sets an example for the team with everything he does on and off the court, and it has certainly rubbed onto his teammates.

The Warriors are finding more success this 2021-22 with their hot start to the season, and they undoubtedly have Steph to thank for the most part.
