The return of Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry from injury is indeed very close. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player has a great chance of playing as soon as this Saturday.

In a video posted on Twitter this afternoon by Warriors writer Anthony Slater of The Athletic, head coach Steve Kerr addressed the status of Curry ahead back-to-back home games this weekend against the Charlotte Hornets and then the Memphis Grizzlies.

“I doubt he’ll play tomorrow with the back-to-back, I don’t think it makes much sense,” coach Kerr said. “He’s probably going to want to, but I would say it’s more likely that he’ll play Saturday. If all goes well, I expect him to play Saturday. But even if it goes well, I would not expect him to play tomorrow.”

Scheduled to be re-evaluated on Friday, Curry has been out of the Warriors lineup since he suffered a badly sprained right ankle late in the fourth quarter of a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 4.

Without Curry in the lineup for the last 10 games, Golden State has gone an impressive 9-1 during that stretch. In 23 starts this season, Curry leads the Warriors in scoring with 26.3 points, 6.6 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in roughly 32.6 minutes of action per contest.
