The Golden State Warriors escaped the American Airlines Center by the skin of their teeth, giving the Dallas Mavericks only their fifth loss in their home confines this season. Point guard Stephen Curry and forward Draymond Green attributed that to Luka Doncic's emergence and stellar play through the first half of this 2018-19 campaign:

“He's unbelievable,” Curry said of Doncic, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. “You can tell he's just experienced in terms of playing high-level basketball. A guy that's always at his own pace. I'm sure he had heard all the doubters and people talking about his game who really didn't know much about him, and he's made himself known for sure. It's fun to watch in terms of the future of the league.”

Doncic put up 26 points, six rebounds and five assists in a losing effort, a line that only bolsters his case as an All-Star player and a surefire Rookie of the Year with an average of 20.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game:

“I don't know if he's an All-Star with how the numbers work, but he's an All-Star player,” said Green. “So I don't know if he'll be an All-Star, per se [this year], but he's definitely an All-Star talent — that's for damn sure.”

The Slovenian's electrifying skill set and willingness to take big shots in big moments has endeared him to this fan base, making the transition from one European great in Dirk Nowitzki to another in Doncic.

As the German international enjoys his last few signature moments in Dallas, a star begins to rise in Doncic, who can soon become the first rookie to make an All-Star Game since Blake Griffin did in 2011.
