The Golden State Warriors, the basketball world, and, most importantly, Klay Thompson, suffered a devastating blow on Thursday when an MRI confirmed that Thompson would miss the 2020-21 season after suffering a torn right Achilles during a workout on Wednesday.

Fortunately, the specific type of tear should enable the 30-year-old sharpshooter to make a full recovery, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, general manager Bob Myers called Curry and Draymond Green to deliver the news of Thompson's confirmed diagnosis, and the two stars responded with, appropriately, nothing.

Curry took to Instagram on Wednesday to send a get well message to his fellow Splash Brother.

Green and Eric Paschall also sent prayers to their teammate via social media, as did former Warriors centers Demarcus Cousins and Andrew Bogut, along with LeBron James, Trae Young, Bradley Beal and many more folks across the NBA community.

The timing of the injury could not be more deflating for Thompson and the Warriors. The five-time All-Star was readying for his return to action after 17 months of rehab due to a torn ACL suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 Finals. With a healthy Steph Curry, the Dubs were expecting to return to championship contention. Now, that scenario looks far more unlikely.

As the franchise copes with Thompson's injury, celebrates the selection of no. 2 overall pick James Wiseman, and preps for free agency, Myers worked quickly to add wing depth. Hours after Thompson's MRI, Golden State was reportedly closing in a deal acquire Kelly Oubre Jr. from the Oklahoma City Thunder, per Woj.

OKC picked up the 24-year-old on Monday in the blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns.
