It has now been eight months since Sonya, the mother of Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, filed for divorce from her husband, Dell Curry. This came as a complete shock for many considering how Sonya and Dell were seen as one of the most endearing couples in all of basketball.

As it turns out, Steph is himself still struggling with the fact that his parents have now gone their separate ways after 33 years of marriage. The Warriors All-Star acknowledged the personal difficulties he has been going through in this ordeal. Nevertheless, he has chosen to support his parents in their decision:

“It’s challenging for sure,” Curry said, via Logan Murdock of The Ringer. “I could be mad and be like, ‘Y’all effed this up.’ I could have that approach. But it’s going to be an acknowledgment of both of y’all in terms of how y’all raised me. The calmness I have in myself is because of y’all.”

Steph also has a family now and a deeper understanding of the dynamics of marriage. He has been married to Ayesha Curry for more than a decade and they are the parents to three loving children. He's clearly mature enough to accept Sonya and Dell's decision to separate, and he isn't holding this against them.

When Steph broke the all-time 3-point record in Madison Square Garden earlier this season, one of the most touching images was when he hugged his dad shortly after his historic moment. Not long after, the Warriors superstar then proceeded to a tunnel in MSG to hug his mother. It was an unusual setup, to say the least, but Steph makes an effort to make sure that things are still able to work out:

“I had to make sure I was in that moment with both of them separately and this wasn’t just this whole kind of thing,” Curry says. “That is how I choose to approach that. Because it is challenging.”

Steph may be one of the biggest superstars on the planet, but just like all of us, he too has his own personal problems to face. No matter who you are, you just can't escape the harsh realities in life.
