While many are expecting the addition of DeMarcus Cousins to represent a downright supernova of a lineup for the Golden State Warriors, point guard Stephen Curry is aware the road to a third consecutive championship will be tougher than some will expect.

While Curry is excited about what Cousins can bring, adding a different player, especially one of All-Star caliber, always adds a certain level of unpredictability — especially considering the sheer amount of touches and shots Cousins has gotten throughout his NBA career.

“100 percent,” said Curry as a guest of Bill Simmons on The Ringer Podcast. “And there’s going to be a feeling-out process, obviously. Because lineups will change a little bit. Rotations may change a little bit. But, I think just over the course of 82 games, and then we look at the playoffs, it gives us something to look forward to and something to really focus on—how we’re going to implement his skill set to what we do.”

Curry noted the Warriors won't change it all just because of Cousins. They still plan to retain the team's identity, which got them three championships in four years.

“Obviously, keeping our style of play, playing fast, using the guys that have been around these last three or four years, and figuring that out. But, it gives us something to look forward to. And I’m lucky to sit here in August, thinking about how we get back to June. There’s a lot of time in between and we’ve got to be ready.”

Cousins' propensity to shoot 3s will already be something that meshes with the team's high-volume shooting, but ultimately it will be his willingness to play off the ball and help those around him that will determine his success during his one-year stint in the Bay Area.
