Following an 11-game absence, Stephen Curry made his return to the court on Saturday night, helping guide the Golden State Warriors to a win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

There had been much uncertainty about when he would be back in the mix, which had drawn some expectation that he could suit up for the Christmas Day tilt against the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, the Warriors held firm to sit him out of the contest.

This apparently was a difficult decision for Stephen Curry to deal with as he cut his pre-game workout short due to his frustration about the situation, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“It was weird. It was kind of the middle of the in-between zone of assessing my body and knowing I wasn't going to be 100 percent but I could move well enough to play and not be in jeopardy of reinjuring myself.  had that on my radar since I got hurt. I wanted to play because I know how special it is to play on Christmas Day, especially knowing who we are playing. That was my worst pregame workout, I had no inspiration at all. I was out there mad the whole because I wasn't suiting up. I actually stopped my workout halfway through. I was hoping that I would be able to play so if it wasn't Christmas Day it wouldn't have been that hard to sit out because I wasn't ready.

Although the Warriors have become a constant to play on Christmas Day over the last few years, the opportunity to play on that day is hard to pass up. Curry had shown improvement in his recovery up to that point, but it would have been foolish for the team to not let him completely heal before returning.

The contest still turned out to be quite entertaining down to the final couple of minutes that included some controversy over that span that saw the Warriors edge the Cavaliers. Stephen Curry may not have gotten his wish to play, but he is finally back on the court healthy and ready for the long run.
