The shocking news of the divorce between Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry's parents, Dell and Sonya, took many fans by surprise.
The Curry family always seemed like the perfect bunch. We'd often see Dell and Sonya Curry together during Warriors playoff games decked out in Dubs gear alongside Steph's wife Ayesha. But unfortunately, it wasn't all that it seemed to be on the surface as their divorce plans have now gone public.
As per report from TMZ sports, the Warriors star's parents both accused each other of cheating during their marriage. It was Sonya who had initially filed for divorce on June 14 with the reason being that of “marital misconduct” with claims that the former NBA star had extramarital affairs with multiple women.
Dell Curry responded by accusing Sonya as the one who was unfaithful. In his court filing, he indicated that she performed “acts of illicit sexual misconduct” that she tried to cover up. He also claims that she had been living with another man during the marriage, a claim which she categorically denied.
The Warriors star's mom admitted that she was indeed in a relationship with another man, but it came after their decision to separate from one another in March 2020. Sonya has also made clear that it was Dell's infidelity that was an “open secret” that close family and friends all knew about and amid the divorce proceedings “she was left with no choice” but to divulge details.
Warriors fans have nothing but love and respect for the Curry family. Hopefully, matters reach their ultimate conclusion in a way that pleases all parties involved.
