As Colin Kaepernick remains unsigned by an NFL team, he has continued to receive support from former and current players around the league. He even got the support from one of the best players of the NBA today, as Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry posted an Instagram story with the caption “#FreeKaep.”

The former back-to-back MVP was on hand during the season opener for the San Francisco 49ers. Despite being known to be an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers, who dominated the game against the 49ers, he was still vocal about his belief that the talented quarterback deserves to be part of an NFL team's roster. He even said, via Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer, that he thinks Kaepernick’s national anthem protests last year were for the better.

“He definitely should be in the NFL. If you’ve been around the NFL, the top 64 quarterbacks, and he’s not one of them? Then I don’t know what game I’m watching.

“Obviously his stance and his peaceful protest when he was playing here kind of shook up the world, and I think for the better. But hopefully he gets back in the league – because he deserves to be here and he deserves an opportunity to play. He’s in his prime and can make a team better.”

Kaepernick became part of a lot of headlines when he decided to kneel during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner as an act of protest against racially-charged issues the country is facing.

Although his future as a pro remains unclear, there is no doubt that Kaepernick is a very talented player. He has proven in the past that he is a winner, as he led the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012, and helped them win the NFC championship the year after. He may not be playing for any team right now, but if there’s any good news for him, there are a number of professional athletes that are giving him support, and now he knows one of the NBA’s superstars also believes in him.
