Get off your high horse, NBA 2K. It seems like NBA Live is going for that basketball video game supremacy title. Some superstars' overall ratings in the upcoming NBA Live 19 were released already. Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant got a 95 rating, a point higher than teammate Stephen Curry's 94 rating.

The word is out that the NBA Live franchise is indeed gaining traction in this year's version compared to its often lopsided losses against the NBA 2K developers in the previous years.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will be the undisputed top player in the game as NBA Live has given him a 97 overall rating, while KD is still sitting at the second spot. Philadelphia 76ers young charismatic big man Joel Embiid will be the cover athlete, per Samit Sarkar of the Polygon.

“Embiid will be one of the NBA stars that NBA Live 19 players can pick up in The One, the game’s career mode, which debuted in NBA Live 18. This year, EA is adding a feature called Build Your Squad in which players will be able to compete on street basketball courts around the world, aiming to recruit current NBA athletes like Embiid and “several other prolific ballers,” according to EA, along with all-time greats like 76ers legend Allen Iverson.”

Moreover, the NBA Live franchise is taking on a very interesting step in the right direction as users can now create women players in the game. Polygon's Owen S. Good reported this brilliant development.

“Female players will also be able to scan themselves into the game (using a companion app on iOS or Android mobile devices) to embark on their virtual careers. NBA Live 19 will also offer abilities and perks modeled on stars from the women’s game, such as Candace Parker, the five-time all-star for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.”

However, NBA 2K19 is still poised to emerge on the top this year but one can't deny that NBA Live is already shortening the gap between them.
