Inside the NBA host Kenny Smith came out with a bold statement following the Portland Trail Blazers shock win against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of their first-round matchup. Smith was so impressed with Blazers All-Star point guard Damian Lillard that he came out and said: “I don't think you can shoot as deep as him Steph.”

Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors caught wind of the comment and shared his reaction via Twitter:

Clearly, the former back-to-back MVP does not agree with Smith's claim.

Not to be outdone, Smith came back with his own retort, implying how Stephen Curry has failed to be relevant over the past season due to a hand injury that has pretty much kept him on the sidelines throughout the campaign:

As for Lillard, he led all scorers on Tuesday, finishing with 34 points on 9-of-21 shooting, along with five rebounds five assists, and a block in 43 minutes of action. The 30-year-old came to life in the fourth period, making clutch shot after clutch shot, as he killed any hope for a Lakers comeback in the final period.

Lillard has undeniably been the best player in the entire league since the restart, and for his part, Smith has certainly jumped on this bandwagon. He does have a point about Curry not being in a position to prove his worth right now, but knowing the Warriors superstar, this is something that Curry will use as motivation for what should be a resurgent 2020-21 campaign from him and the Dubs.
