The Golden State Warriors are currently the worst team in the NBA, but Stephen Curry believes it could have been uglier for the team.

Curry revealed that the Dubs' situation 10 years ago — when he entered the league — “was tougher” than what the team is experiencing right now. While Golden State is struggling today, at least they have a clear direction and identity under head coach Steve Kerr.

As for Curry in his rookie year, he shared that it was really difficult given that they were still figuring things out during that time.

“It was tougher when we first got here, for sure,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area on Friday. “For one, I didn't know what I was doing. We were the young guys trying to figure it out. It's hard when you don't know what you don't know because it was that early in that process.

“That first window, it was rough.”

For what it's worth, the 2009-10 Warriors finished with a 26-56 record, third-worst in the Western Conference and fourth-worst in the whole NBA.

All the rebuilding and the painful years the team had to endure paid off, as the Warriors rose to dominance in the 2014-15 season and went to five straight NBA Finals. They won three championships in the process, with Curry even winning back-to-back regular season MVP awards in 2015 and 2016.

Compared to that time, the 2019-20 Dubs are certainly in a better situation. After all, their star players are only injured and are expected to be all fully healthy by next season. Not to mention that they have established a winning culture.
