The Golden State Warriors find themselves in familiar territory with their fifth straight NBA Finals appearance. Point guard Stephen Curry is relieved to finally be facing off against an opponent other than the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Just as the Warriors dominated that West, the Cavs reigned supreme in the East under forward LeBron James.

According to Michael Grange of Rodgers Sportsnet, Stephen Curry is happy to be going against a new challenge in the Toronto Raptors:

“I like the energy we have coming into Game 1 with” — Steph Curry. Said it’s been refreshing to play someone other than Cleveland in the Finals. Was looking forward to the possibility of coming to Toronto.

Curry's comments are certainly understandable. The Warriors and Cavaliers squared off in the NBA Finals four consecutive years, with the former coming out ahead 3-1. It is safe to say that things may have gotten a bit repetitive during that time.

While James' heroics provided a bit of a challenge, Golden State essentially put the stamp on things by sweeping them in 2018, which prompted the superstar to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason. Curry will now be leading his team against a different beast in forward Kawhi Leonard.

Although it may be nice to play against a different team for a change, it is safe to say that Curry would rather take the end result every time. Golden State has been reverted back to the lineup that kickstarted their dynasty with him as the focal point of the offense.

He now has an opportunity to do something he has not before by taking home the finals MVP.
