The five-time defending Western Conference Champion Golden State Warriors were finally dethroned in 2019-20 as the heralded franchise was unseated by superstar forward LeBron James and the surging Los Angeles Lakers. With the likes of guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in addition to All-Star big man Draymond Green all encountering various injuries this season, the Warriors quickly went from first to worst and failed to reach the playoffs as a result of the team's severely hobbled roster.

Nonetheless, it still appears as though the Warriors will be back in contention next season as the trio of Curry, Thompson and Green should return to form. Not only that, but Curry's trainer recently teased about the former two-time league MVP's ability to continue to somehow further evolve his game.

“He's a young 32. He's still gaining strength, he's still gaining power, he's still getting faster,” Brandon Payne said of Curry last week on “The Habershow” podcast with NBC Sports NBA Insider Tom Haberstroh. “Those aren't things you see out of guys that are 32 years old. He's still refining movement patterns, and all athletes develop at different speeds … not only is his skill level evolving continually, but his body still is developing. And that is a rare thing for a guy at 32 in the NBA.”

It is worth noting, though, that Stephen Curry and company won't be walking back into a weak Western Conference as the aforementioned Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and several others will be waiting eagerly. The road back to superstardom will not be easy for Golden State, which could make for some seriously entertaining basketball moving forward.
