Splash brother, baby-faced assassin and Chef Curry are just some of the nicknames given to Stephen Curry for how good he has been throughout his NBA career. Now, he can also be called “Captain.”

After the results of the All-Star voting were revealed, the Golden State Warriors star guard finished with the most votes in the Western Conference and will be tasked to choose his teammates, along with LeBron James from the East. He then took to his Twitter account to thank all those who voted for him and even included the famous scene from the movie Captain Phillips.

The former back-to-back MVP led the West starters, edging out his Dubs teammate Kevin Durant, followed by Houston Rockets guard James Harden, and the New Orleans Pelicans duo of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. Unlike in previous years, Curry and James will select who will be part of their teams and could take players from either conferences as the NBA looks to make the exhibition game more competitive.

Backed by his stellar performances once again this season, coupled with his championship experience, Curry is definitely worthy of being a captain. He is averaging 27.7 points per game this year, including 41.8 percent from 3-point distance, to go along with 5.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.6 steals in 32.7 minutes per game.

The reserves or pool of players the captains will choose from will be named by the NBA head coaches. The All-Star Game will be played on February 18 inside Staples Center in Los Angeles.
